Public health dashboards launched for Salem and Covington via Center for Community Health Innovation

ROANOKE, Va. (WDBJ) - Public health dashboards for the communities of Salem and Covington have been launched in partnership with Roanoke College, Alleghany Health District and City Health Dashboard, according to a press release from Roanoke College.

City Health Dashboard is a tool that distills a number of data points about health outcomes and risk factors in a public resource.

Salem and Covington were picked for the program as part of the nationwide “Put Us on the Map Challenge”. As the only cities selected from the commonwealth, the applications were sponsored by Center for Community Health Innovation and Alleghany Health District as they work with the Invest Health initiative, said the college.

“Our goal is to put timely, accurate public health data into the hands of the people who need it most,” said Professor Liz Ackley, director of the Center for Community Health Innovation.
